The dominance of mainstream social media platforms, boasting over 70% of the world’s population as users, had long misused user voices, disregarded governments' choices, lacked balanced content moderation, and monopolized economic interests away from creators.
Decentralized Social Networks and Social Finance ushered in a shift, placing content and network ownership in the hands of the people. Platforms like Cyberconnect, Farcaster, Galxe, Deso, and Lens swiftly crossed the million-user mark, revolutionizing social interactions and putting users at the heart of the ecosystem. Friends.tech alone generated revenue exceeding $20 million by October 20th, with over 10.75 million cumulative transactions.
These remarkable developments occurred amidst a bearish sentiment for startups and the tech industry at large. Bitcoin's price spiked to $37k, leaving us wondering if it’s an early bull market or mere emotional market fluctuations 🤞.
Despite these innovations and statistics, the industry's growth potential is hindered by a lack of end users. Earlier, we had users and fewer relevant products for them to use. Now, there are products but no users to use them. So, our efforts need to focus on empowering the products with appropriate attention and establishing a robust support network.
To achieve this, we aim to partner with leading VCs, offering guidance to these builders. Many emerging talents hail from meme-coins and social media platforms.
